Out of the 2057 persons brought into the NPC,
188 of these were brought in more than once. Two
individuals were brought into the NPC a total of
seven times each during 2007. |

Out of the 2057 transports to NPC. 1956 were
admitted for evaluation. 71 individuals were
referred to Ben Taub, most often due to medical
needs. Only 17 persons who were believed to be
seriously mentally ill were charged with a crime
and taken to the Harris County Jail after being
screened by the NPC staff. Only 9 individuals
were found not to meet the criteria for
emergency detention ( danger to self or others,
grave neglect ) and rejected at the NPC. |
