First Quarter 2012

Senior Officer Mark Stevens

Senior Officer Mark Stevens received the CIT Officer of the Quarter Award in January 2012.

Mark was one of the CIT officers trained during the pilot program in 1999. Mark has responded to numerous CIT calls over the years. He recently volunteered for a temporary assignment as a CIRT officer. One call he responded to during this rotation involved a paranoid schizophrenic man who appeared at the building housing the office of former President of the United States George H. W. Bush. The consumer, who was clad only in his underwear, was yelling that President Bush had been shot in his office along with his Secret Service detail. The consumer was very agitated and at times violent. Officer Stevens did an excellent job de-escalating the situation and safely securing the consumer and taking him to the NeuroPsychiatric Center for emergency psychiatric evaluation.

Senior Officer Mark Stevens receiving his award from Ms. Jinneh Dyson, Executive Director of Houston Metropolitan NAMI.
